The waterfalls in Iceland are known for their diversity and beauty. Iceland provides an assortment of must see waterfalls found all around the country. Some of the most attractive and well-recognized waterfalls in Iceland are:

 

 

 

1. Glymur Waterfall: Glymur is by far the highest waterfall in Iceland. The waterfall is a heaven that should not be missed. Glymur showcases stunning scenery and you may even catch a glimpse of many beautiful birds flying and diving in the waterfall. “Glymur is not in Reykjavik, but about 45 minutes outside of the city. And the name actually means a rumble or a thundering roar, not glimmer. 2. Hengifoss Waterfall:  Hengifoss Waterfall is the third largest waterfall in Iceland and is situated in Egilsstair. The waterfall is known for its beautiful surroundings and a pleasant atmosphere.

Gullfoss Waterfall: Gullfoss Waterfall is the most powerful waterfall in Iceland.  Bearing a height of 32m, this waterfall plunges in two states together proving an appearance of meeting two rivers at one point. During the sunny weather, you can witness beautiful rainbows forming above the waterfall.

4. Dettifoss Waterfall:  Dettifoss Waterfall is a monstrous waterfall in Iceland and it is very powerful. The waterfall is formed with the water of the melting glaciers and falls with an immense pressure.  Dettifoss Waterfall enhances the natural beauty of Iceland.

5. Dynjandi Waterfall:  Dynjandi Waterfall is situated in Westford. The waterfall leaves behind many pleasant memories in the minds of the tourists. Dynjandi Waterfall falls in multiple stages and if the tourists want they can walk up to the highest tier of the waterfall which is the most stunning part of the fall.

6. Skogafoss Waterfall:  Skogafoss Waterfall falls in a rectangular shape and is the only waterfall which can be enjoyed with the mist at the base as well as the top.

7. Haifoss Waterfall:  Haifoss Waterfall is the 2nd tallest waterfall of Iceland. This waterfall is escorted by another waterfall called Glanni and boasts many beautiful rainbows on sunny afternoons.

8. Godafoss Waterfall: Godafoss Waterfall is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The waterfall is converted into a river and the scenic beauty can be experienced from both sides of the river.

9. Hraunfossar Waterfall:  Hraunfossar Waterfall happens to be the most unusual waterfall of Iceland as it flows through a long line of spring further joining an old lava flow.

10. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall:  Seljalandsfoss Waterfall is popular because the tourists can go behind the falls. The waterfall can be reached through a number of tourist buses to enjoy the scenic beauty.
